Vintage:   2008
Appellation:  Mendoza, Argentina
Grape:  Malbec
Alcohol by volume:  13.8%

Taste: Dark garnet in the glass, the nose has refined aromas of blackberries, blueberries and raspberries underpinned by dank earth and forest floor. The bouquet later opens into more cassis aromas, along with earthy black cherry notes. On the palate, the wine is silky with seamlessly integrated tannins. It showcases compact fruit and dense complexities with a long velvety finish.

Region: Malbec from Argentina is becoming more and more popular. The best region for Malbec is Mendoza, nestled at the foot of the Andes mountains. Our Malbec has a deep violet red color. Intense aromas of plum and black cherries, which also show on the palate. It is well structured, concentrated with soft tannins for a long, luscious finish.

Cameron's Notes: A lot of these Argentinean wines have normally not left the country previously as domestic consumption and knowledge have kept them at home. Originally from France, Malbec was introduced into Argentina in the 1860s. The abundance of sunshine suits the variety perhaps more so than its origin and now produces softer tannin and richer fruit styles and has been embraced by the Argentines as their national variety. We have deliberately aimed for the rich flavorsome style that you would also find at an Argentine asado. The wine has been made in one of the revamped family wineries that are producing stunning and interesting examples.

The Flying Winemaker Malbec is holding all that fruit and intensity and shows what a desirable variety Malbec is. While on the surface the wine appears softthe variety begs to be paired with steak. It won't disappoint you.
