The hot weather is finally starting to die down and that means red wines are officially back in season! </font><font class="font2">The October Sampler showcases three big, opulent reds from California. Three different varietals are featured: Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. </font><font class="font2">They're all quite young and will benefit with a little age or by decanting for about an hour prior to drinking. <br /></font><font class="font2"><br /><b>4 bottles each of:</b></font><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><br /></font></font></font><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><br /><a href="http://chwine.com/wine/lot/67/">Lot 67 2005 Russian River Syrah</a>: This big, inky syrah has been quite a star at recent events in San Francisco and Austin. It has a unique minty nose that is reflective of its terroir. Big blackberries and blueberries explode on the palate. Will pair nicely with game or a big porterhouse!<br /></font></font></font><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><br /><a href="http://chwine.com/wine/lot/73/">Lot 73 2006 Chalk Hill Cabernet</a>: </font></font></font><font class="font2">The longer this wine stays in bottle the better it seems to get. We tasted a month ago and it was completely backward. We tried recently, and with a little air, it is fantastic. It is full of dark
chocolate and big ripe blackberries backed by silky vanilla from new
French oak. This enormous cab will pair well with a
juicy rib eye, New York, or your favorite prime rib. </font><br /><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><font class="font2"><br /><a href="http://chwine.com/wine/lot/99/">Lot 99 2004 Lodi Cabernet Franc</a>: This is a big, fat juicy wine full of fruit and vanilla oak.
