February Sampler
The February Sampler includes two new world Chardonnays and two new world Syrahs. Lot 87 is a delicious wine with lemon, lime and a fruit salad of tropical fruit. Lot 108 is a bigger bolder style with great acidity and overall balance. Lot 105 and 106 are the same wines with two years of age between the two. Lot 105 has great structure with tannin to age. Lot 106 has big, bold black fruit and is very similar to Lot 105. Try tasting these two side by side to compare a wine with two years of age on the other.
3 bottles each of:
Lot 87 2007 Alexander Valley/Russian River Valley Chardonnay: This is a beautiful bottle of wine with mixed
floral and fruit aromas. Imagine Bosch pear and Fuji apple served on a
graham cracker drizzled with caramel. Broad and deep on the mid-palate
with lush tropical fruit and vanilla notes lingering in a long finish.
Lot 105 2004 Sonoma Mountain Syrah: This is serious juice that explodes out of the glass with vanilla,
blackberry, plum and anise. Huge structure with a midpalate of
strawberries and vanilla and plumy spice.
Lot 106 2006 Sonoma Mountain Syrah: Lot 106 2006 Sonoma Mountain Syrah is the baby bother to Lot 105 having
skipped the 2005 vintage. Again, why this guy sold us one vintage and
held onto the rest is anybodies guess. This wine is a mirror image of
the 2004, just younger.
Lot 108 2007 Napa Valley Chardonnay: On the palate she's broad and lush with intense
lemon, grapefruit and spicy oak. Highly structured, this wine has
probably the best ageing potentials of any chardonnay we have offered
(in fact, its what its parent winery is known for).
