Veeder, Oakville, Rutherford, Spring Mountain) Cabernet Sauvignon</a> - Deep, dark brooding Cabernet, ruby-plum color with deep crimson rim. On the nose blackcurrant hits you right between the eyes with cassis intermixed with blackberries, chocolate, and damp earth. Nuances of moist underbrush are braced by cedary oak and excellent fruit purity. Despite its 10/30 weight structure this wine has charming texture accompanied by bold acidity and rich mid-palate tannins. With a lingering finish and full-bodied elegance, this Cabernet is nostalgic of some of Napa's most concentrated, structured, and long-lived wines.

<a target="_top" href="http://chwine.com/wine/lot/121/buy/">Lot 121 2006 Spring Mountain Cabernet</a> - Stylistically, this is a remarkably open and accessible Spring Mountain Cabernet showing incredible fruit, colossal structure, gorgeous oak (80% new and 20% one-year old barrels for 20 months) and a remarkably supple mouthfeel for this district. Deep purple red color and gorgeous nose reveal red stone fruits on the palate with plenty of tannin. Drink this wine over the next 20 years and certainly decant in the near term. The last two vintages of these wines (2003 and 2004) have both received 92 point scores form the Spectator and Enthusiast.

The nose quickly opens to aromas of ripe plums and savory roasts with a subtle background of cigar box. On the palate are juicy and penetrating flavors of currants, rose petal and earth layered with an opulence of wild dark fruits. Perfectly balanced, with bold acidity, a full body and classic Howell Mountain fruit, This superior Cabernet will continue to age with great poise over the next 20 years.

This wine�s distinctive depth and viscosity provide a long, complex finish and fleshy mouth feel.

This wine is a concentrated explosion of black currants, raspberries, and chocolate. Ripe, dark, and intense throughout with highly structured fruit and tannins that deliver the big brooding fruit with silky viscosity. The acidity carries the flavors a long way and while this would benefit from a long sleep in the cellar, it is accessible now, especially if you have a lamb chop handy.

Full bodied as most 07 vintages have been, this wine shows outstanding overall structure and balance with some of the finest tannins, subtle and well-integrated that we have produced. Gobs of black cherry and old-world complexities flesh out the midpalate of this wine as it finishes smooth with notes that classic Rutherford dust.
